Open the LAN server on the minecraft world by pressing escape while on the world. Whoever wants to get on the LAN server should go to the multiplayer option on the main menu.
Hello so me and my brother both want to play Minecraft together. I have an Alienware laptop and he has a MacBook pro. Obviously, my computer is much more powerful than his and would be a better option to host a lan world.
Here is the problem: when he searches for lan games my world never shows up. Also when he tries to direct connect to my world using my ip and port it connects for 5 minutes and then says. When he hosts the world I can see it in the multiplayer section, I can join it from there and I can direct connect all without a problem except that it is laggy because his computer isn't that powerful. Please help because I want to play and I want to run a mod with him. Btw this happens with and without the mod installed any help that will let me host the lan world is appreciated. Quote from it didnt work Are you absolutely sure that a) Your firewall is disabled b ) Any 'anti-virus' type software is disabled (anything that blocks connections) c) That he is trying to connect to the right address and port number - that is, your INTERNAL ip address?
If all those are true, then, on the MacBook, in 'terminal' try to ping the ip address. Just 'ping 192.168.0.10' (or whatever it is). Does it get a response? In 99% of problems like this, it's because of a firewall, or some other software on the host which is blocking the connection - even though people think they have disabled everything. It's our way of saying thank you. Quote from im sure of a,b,c. I have discovered that he cant ping me and i also tried to google online ping my pc and i cant be pinged any help is appreciated and thanks for all of your earlier responses If you are on the same local area network, and the same subnet, and he cannot ping you - then it is something on your computer preventing it. Usually that is antivirus or firewall software. So if you're both on 192.168.something and can't ping, then I'm sorry but there has to be something blocking it. I don't have any further suggestions, other than reinstalling windows. Or booting up Ubuntu and running it in that instead, I guess.

Ok, I finally registered specifically to start this thread because I've been scouring the online community for an answer and haven't found one that helped. I've got my two boys playing Minecraft PC on two MacBook pros, from what I can tell this is the Java version. We've been playing for a while and are like Bing the game. I have them playing multiplayer using the one account method where my oldest done signs in, launches the game and starts a LAN game, then my other son signs in from the same account, but doesn't launch the game till I change his username be editing the json file. Then he can launch the game and join the LAN game using direct connect (typing in the IP address and port number). I'm wondering if I can join the same game with Min can't PE on my iPad?
I'm running the latest updates of the game on all systems and it sounds nods like the latest update of MCPE should allow us to all play multiplayer together. So far I haven't been able to get anything to work. Attempted solutions: 1. Connect to the game manually in MCPE by typing in server name (though I really don't know what to put for this), then entering the IP address and port number. The server adds successfully but never appears to have a connection. Note: We're on the same network.

I exit the game and try again, turn of wifi and try again, sign into and out of Xbox live, and have no spac s in my username. I also tried setting up and running my own server. It appears to be working, but still does not appear on my ipad, and doesn't work when I try to connect manually. Anyone have any any ideas? Quote from Just figured out what's going on. The update you are currently talking about for cross platform is actually for windows 10, android, and IOS. While the windows 10 is like a pc, it is not as powerful and can only play MCPE instead of the PC version.
The only reason it can cross platform is because it is MCPE. It didn't say anything about normal PC's or MACS though, sorry. But maybe in the future we can hope these features will become reality. You mean the Windows UWP, not Windows 10, which is what Windows 10 Edition Beta runs on.
Windows UWP apps run on Windows 10 Computers, Phones, and sometimes even XBox One. The point is, it is WINDOWS. Because Apple think's they're above that sort of thing.
